【Bowmore 1968 Aston Martin ARC-52 Single Malt Scotch Whisky】
Only 100 bottles of this globally limited treasure are available. Crafted with consideration, this exceptionally rare Bowmore is a multi-dimensional single malt, matured for a remarkable 52 years in a sherry butt and an American oak ex-bourbon hogshead.
The Bowmore ARC-52 showcases the distillery's excellence in cask maturation and management, reflecting an unwavering pursuit of perfection. It perfectly combines the elegance of Bowmore with the iconic legacy of Aston Martin, achieving a harmonious balance between two distinctly different styles, making it a true masterpiece.
With just 50 sets released worldwide, the whisky set, titled ‘Malt Master’s Indulgence’, is the last of the Compendium series and is comprised of five unique and rare vintages carefully selected by Malt Master David C.Stewart MBE. Each set has an individual number engraved on the frame, showing that it is one of just 50 sets available worldwide.
David's selections for Chapter Five begin with a whisky from 1962, commemorating the year when young David, at the age of 17, embarked on his journey as a bartender. The rare whisky from 1974, with its malt aroma of honey and orange peel, celebrates the year he was appointed Master Distiller. The 1983 whisky, featuring subtle notes of vanilla and toffee, marks the beginning of his experiments with whisky. The 2001 European oak sherry cask whisky exudes beautiful fruit and oak spice aromas, while the final whisky from 2002, aged in American oak, combines smoky, sweet, and spicy notes, symbolising his pivotal moment of reintroducing the long-dormant peat distillation method to the distillery after 50 years.
Limited to just 1,000 sets worldwide, the 2016 Romanée-Conti Grand Cru is a worthy successor to the profound 2015, wafting from the glass with aromas of wild berries, violets, peony, dark chocolate, cinnamon and exotic spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and satiny, with an ineffable sense of completeness, searing concentration without weight, a vibrant, indeed animating line of acidity, and a long, expansive finish that concludes with a judicious touch of mouthwatering bitterness.
The 2016 Pavie Alienor Collection is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc. Very deep purple-black in colour, it needs a little coaxing to begin, slowly unfurling to reveal a fragrant perfume of violets, chocolate-covered cherries, crushed blueberries and eucalyptus. Full-bodied and built like a brick house, it has a solid foundation of firm, super ripe, grainy tannins and seamless freshness interknit with the black fruit preserves and minerally layers, finishing very long and very decadent.
