Tomatin 12YO Single Malt Whisky 1L
The distillery is located about 25km south of Inverness, in the town of Tom Martin, over 300m above sea level (turning into Scotland's highest-altitude distillery) and has only 200 inhabitants, next to the River Findhorn. The distillery was legally established in 1897 under the name Tomatin Spey Distillery Co.Ltd. The company changed ownership in 1986 and changed its name to its current name, Tomatin Distillery CoLtd.
During the 1970s and 1980s, Scottish distilleries produced the highest volume with more than 20 stills. As of today, production has gradually diminished, with 12 stills producing around 5 million liters of whisky per year.
Tomatin is known for producing whisky in the highlands, and their single malt result is Tomatin. They also make whisky to make Scotch and some of their own brands include The Antiquary, The Talisman and BigT.
Matured for twelve years in bourbon casks and finished in sherry casks (6 to 9 months). With a hint of smoky, toasted grains and herbs.
Tasting Notes:
Aroma: Creamy at first, but raisin and almond notes quickly take over
Palate: Oak herbs and fresh mint, garnished with dried ginger and orange peel
Finish: Blackcurrant buns, a little raspberry jam, barley
