Tomatin 8YO Single Malt Whisky 1L
The distillery is located about 25km south of Inverness, in the small town of Tomartin, at more than 300m above sea level (turning into Scotland's highest-altitude distillery), and has only 200 residents, next to the River Findhorn. The distillery was legally established in 1897 under the name Tomatin Spey Distillery Co.Ltd. The company changed ownership in 1986 and changed its name to its current name, Tomatin Distillery CoLtd.
During the 1970s and 1980s, Scottish distilleries produced the highest volume with more than 20 stills. As of today, production has gradually diminished, with 12 stills producing around 5 million liters of whisky per year. Tommart is known for producing whisky in the Highlands, and they also make Scotch, some of their own brands including The Antiquary, The Talisman and BigT. Aged for eight years in a bourbon and sherry cask blend.
Tasting Notes:
Aroma: Green apples, pears and a touch of milk chocolate before toasted spice
Palate: Cinnamon and liquorice, with plenty of dried fruit. Cream cake, black cherries and Seville oranges bring you a hint of toasted almonds
Aftertaste: Dry and spicy aromas
