The Glenlivet Groundbreaker Collection Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml

The Glenlivet Groundbreaker Collection is a limited edition series celebrating travel and original perspectives. In our first edition, we’ve collaborated with renowned artist Hong Yi to reflect upon how unique travel experiences shape who we become.

Red Hong Yi’s design takes us around the world to the meaningful places in her life: her beginnings in the mountains of Borneo; to the bustling streets of Shanghai and onto the shores of Los Angeles: and finally to the valleys of Scotland, at The Glenlivet. The sum of these journeys allowed her to become ‘the artist who paints without a brush’, creating her technique of charring parchment to paint using traditional red Chinese pigments.

The Glenlivet have taken our whisky on a journey inspired by Hong Yi, with maturation in European and American oak casks before a portion of the whisky is finished in extra charred American Oak and European Red wine casks . The extra charring brings notes of creamy toffee and fresh vanilla pod, whilst the red wine casks bring hints of wild berries and dried fruits and a burst of Hong Yi’s signature red to the colour of the liquid: The result: a journey of inner and outer transformation.
