Akkeshi 2023 "Keichitsu" Season Hakuro Single Malt Whisky 700ml
Akkeshi began distilling in the Akkeshi district of Hokkaido in 2016, and the concept of distilling and maturing single malt whiskey in Japan’s northern wilderness dates back to the first plans of Masataka Taketsuru, an early Japanese whiskey production pioneer.
Hakuro is the 12th product of Akkeshi Whiskey’s twenty-four solar terms. Bailu is the fifteenth solar term among the twenty-four solar terms, the third solar term of autumn, and it is also the season that reminds us that autumn has truly arrived.
It is aged for more than 3 years in Hokkaido oak barrels, etc., and some raw barley made from Hokkaido-produced barley is added. The aroma is characterized by a slightly smoky peat aroma, which is different from the peat flavor of previous Akkeshi whiskeys.
The unique oriental aroma of Mizunara oak gradually emerges. Although the aroma emphasizes the smoky flavor, the taste is not so smoky, but bitter, with a hint of citrus peel sweetness gradually emerging.
