Hennessy pioneered the V.S.O.P grade. Its history dates back to 1817, when the then British Crown Prince George IV ordered a batch of Cognac from a French winery. He specifically stated on the order that the wine he ordered was Very Superior Old Pale Cognac ( Cognac with a delicate amber color), later referred to as V.S.O.P. Hennessy V.S.O.P. is brewed from the finest white grapes from the Cognac region of France and blended with more than 60 types of eaux-de-vie from the four major producing areas of the Cognac region.
